The period is how far the data reaches through the API and MCP. Calendars (school calendars, holidays and day types) are whole on every tier, Free included. On the site, a company on Free sees a year back and a week ahead, and on a paid tier a year back and 60 days ahead. The bars share one scale: five years back, one year ahead.

The licence rights are a draft. Premium data always follows its provider's licence, and some open sources ask to be credited.
How much do you need?
One request is one REST call or one MCP tool call. Three examples:
- Weather and events for 20 stores, once a day: 20 × 2 × 30 = 1,200 requests a month → Basic.
- Traffic at 10 counters, every hour: 10 × 24 × 30 = 7,200 requests a month → Basic.
- An AI agent answering 50 questions a day, about 4 tool calls each: 50 × 4 × 30 = 6,000 requests a month → Basic, with MCP.
Questions and answers
What counts as a request?
Each request is one credit: one REST call or one MCP tool call, whatever it returns. Browsing this site, including the data behind each section, doesn't count.
No surprise bills: at your limit, requests pause (HTTP 429). We never bill you for more than you chose. Top up when it suits you.
At a limit you get HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header. The per-minute limit clears within a minute; the month's quota resets on the 1st, and bought credits carry you until then.
How do I switch tiers?
Switch any time, here or on your account page. The company's admin asks for the tier and we confirm, usually the same working day.
Up: the new limits apply as soon as we confirm, and the difference comes pro rata on the next invoice.
Down: takes effect at the end of the paid period (month or year), so you keep what you've paid for. Keys and people beyond the new tier's limits are removed with you.
How is it paid?
Paid tiers are invoiced monthly or yearly, in krónur or euros, plus VAT. Paid yearly, 12 months cost the price of 10. There's no card and no checkout.
Run out of credits? Buy more on your account page: 10,000 requests for €10. Bought credits are used once the month's included requests are, and they don't expire.
What is premium data?
Most of the data comes from open and public sources; Snjallgögn computes or assembles derived data from open data. Some sources are licensed from third parties whose terms restrict redistribution: today that's Trading Economics' market and economic data (exchange rates, indicators, markets and the economic calendar).
They're available on Enterprise only, under the provider's licence and a separate agreement. Sometimes you need your own licence with the provider; we'll help you set it up.
Several open sources also ask for attribution when you publish their data. Sources lists each one and what it asks for.
What's the difference between announcing yourself and registering the company?
Announcing yourself with your work email opens 90 days back and 7 days ahead on the site: no password, no account, no API access.
Registering your company opens a year back on the site and gives you API keys. Free reaches a week ahead, on the site and through the API; paid tiers show 60 days ahead on the site, and how far the data reaches through the API and MCP depends on the tier.
Can I try it before paying?
Yes. Free covers all the data except premium (school calendars and holidays included), a year back and a week ahead. It's limited in volume and not for commercial use. Build on it, then move up when you ship.
Why does the period matter?
History and horizon are where the value is: a long history to train models and compare with a normal year, a long horizon to plan. Free reaches a year back, Basic three years and Pro all of it: back to 2015 for weather, with 25-year normals.
How fresh is the data?
Each source refreshes at its own pace, from every ten minutes (road counters) to monthly (hotel statistics). Data shows each source's freshness.
Does it cover more than Iceland?
The data covers Iceland. Holidays, sun and moon, and some lookups answer anywhere. Ask us if you need other countries.
Can AI agents use it?
Yes. MCP comes with Basic and up (three connections at once on Basic, twenty on Pro and unlimited on Enterprise), so Claude, Cursor and other agents can query the data directly. Pro and Enterprise also get a context agent that talks to other agents over A2A. Get data shows how to connect.
Can we download the data in bulk?
Basic downloads the data behind every view on the site. Pro and Enterprise get bulk downloads of whole series and collections (coming), and Enterprise can have its own data partition, within each source's licence.
